EHIC-European Health Insurance Card Replacing the old E111

As with all holiday bookings we strongly advise you to take out additional insurance cover. This can be done by looking at the villasun insurance resource page provided.

There is nothing stopping a traveller obtaining an EHIC and adequate independent travel insurance. You should then be covered for most eventualities depending on small print of your policy. Click here to apply online for you EHIC card.

The following link is provided to the UK Department of Health web site.

The EHIC is a reciprocal agreement between the countries of the European Union and European Economic Area (EEA) who have agreed to share their home NHS (varying degrees) to travellers. The card gives access to state-provided medical and emergency treatment only for the duration of your trip. Most importantly it will not cover medical repatriation back to the UK. This in some cases might have to be done via air ambulance at massive cost.

If you need medical help other than an emergency there is a local NHS medical centre in the square adjacent to the police station just around the corner. You will need your EHIC in all cases, your passport and insurance certificate. If you only have travel cover insurance there are a couple of private doctors on the main road.
In an emergency for the ambulance ring 112 the Spanish red cross, Cruz Roja Española.
